About Us
Forbes Borzoi is located in Wildwood, Florida which intersects with I-75 and the Florida Turnpike. We are a small kennel ... a kennel in name only, as our dogs are our "fur children". Our dogs are an essential part of our daily lives, as we love them for the wonderful companions that they are. We currently have 5 adults and 5 puppies that would love for you to see them on their photo pages. Also pictured is our new boy that will bring us lots of love, but he is not a Borzoi but a Wire Hair Ibizan.
How It All Started
I grew up going to Conformation Dog Shows due to my parents being Professional Dog Handlers and raising Miniature Schnauzers. Quoted from the "New Miniature Schnauzer" book, by Dan Kiedrowski, "Lanny and Penny Hirstein of Penlan Miniature Schnauzer since inception has bred more top producers then any other kennel before or since." Their perfection has given me knowledge that I will cherish and apply to my beloved breed the Borzoi. I was one of those kids you saw at the end of the show and wondered how in the world a kid could get so dirty? I had decided that the Borzoi was the breed for me when I was about 12 years old. Due to my parents having a kennel full of Terriers, they did not feel a Borzoi would fit in. My dad always said, "When you move out, you can have as many as you want". So that is what I did. I am thankful that I had many years to educate myself with the many Borzoi breeders throughout the US before making the final decision on who that long awaited dog will be. I have dog show friends that I have had since I was a child. They have become a part of my life that will never be forgotten. Tony and I got married in 1993. Before Tony met me he, like most people, had never attended a dog show before. When we met I had Ch. Oaklara's Tamron's Tabu, FCH who was 6 years old and Ch. Kairon's Kaibab's Tupolovich who was only 8 months at that time. Tony passed all the tests for marriage including winning a Group One at a puppy match with Kai the first time he showed. (We still have the small ugly candy dish.) Tony enjoys spending all of our extra time and money on the dogs as much as I do. You can see pictures of Tony and some of his wins on the photo pages. Forbes Borzoi goals are to take the many years of past knowledge and continue learning all that we can. We endeavor to own only the best bloodlines that we feel represent the Borzoi.
